At ICO, students are supported 24/7. We embrace multiple learning styles with a variety of helpful resources. You can be a quick study or a slow-and-steady learner. Maybe you consider yourself an early bird, or you’re indisputably a night owl. No matter what, we will help you succeed.

Academic Assistance

All regularly scheduled classes are recorded and stored for student access. For students who focus 100% on lecture, a subscription note-taking service is available. ICO provides academic counseling and enrichment services, as well as student-to-student tutoring. We encourage students to take advantage of each of these options.

 

Career Development

ICO assists students, new graduates, and alumni with locating practice opportunities. We offer numerous events and networking opportunities throughout the year, including:

 

The Kattouf Program – Optometric business and practice management consulting from Richard Kattouf, OD ’72, DOS. Topics include negotiation strategies, marketing, branding, contract review, purchasing a practice, buy-outs, opening cold, and more.

ICOPro – A mentorship program connecting students with alumni who wish to share their expertise on practicing optometry in the real world. This group explores post-graduate residency programs, military service, and corporate, commercial and private practices, and other unique opportunities.

 

Practice Opportunities Symposium – An annual event for students, alumni, and outside optometrists to learn about post-graduation possibilities and network with practitioners in the field. Dozens of panelists discuss modes of practice, management, externships, equipment demos, residencies and more.
