2007

Megan Allen, OD ’07, proudly donned her dance shoes to compete in the Dancing with the Gus Giordano Stars competition at Chicago’s historic Park West Theater. Dr. Allen showcased her talent and raised vital funds for Gus Giordano’s community outreach program, which provides dance and health education to CPS students throughout Chicago.


Charlene Morfoot, OD ’07 was featured in Women in Optometry's October issue. The article highlights how Dr. Morfoot found the perfect moment to establish her own private practice.


2008

Shamroze Khan, OD ’08, received the 2024 Excellence in Science Teaching Award from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. Nominated by students, faculty, and staff, this annual award recognizes her commitment to instilling a high standard of clinical training and creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. 


2009

Eric Drey, OD ’09 celebrated the opening of Lake Forest Family Eye Care in Lake Forest, IL. This makes two for Dr. Drey, who opened his first location, Franklin Eye Care, in the Chicago Loop.

Christine Truong, OD ’16 was featured in Women in Optometry's October issue. The article describes how Dr. Truong’s desire for greater control over her schedule and the opportunity to spend more time with her family inspired her to open her own private practice. 


2020s

2020

Stephanie Engebretson, OD ’20,  a practicing optometrist at North Shore Eye and Wellness in Cedarburg, WI was honored with the Wisconsin Optometric Association (WOA) Young Optometrist of the Year Award at the WOA Convention and Annual Meeting in September.


2023

Congratulations to Kashifa Ansari, OD ’23, who was featured in Women in Optometry’s July issue. The article delves into how Dr. Ansari found her calling in optometry and is helping to shape the profession’s future. Dr. Ansari recently joined the ICO faculty as a clinical instructor. 


2024

Manisha Parikh, OD ’24, was the content expert for Primary Care Optometry Magazine’s July 22, 2024 issue. She presented her findings on poor diet and high BMI as risk factors for meibomian gland atrophy and tortuosity in children.
