Heather Ford is pleased to announce the publication of her book, CancerKid Grown: The Battle of Long-Term Childhood Cancer Survivorship. It is available on Amazon. She is one of the first known survivors of rhabdomyosarcoma. First diagnosed as an infant, the book follows the journey and challenges she and other cancer survivors have faced from the long-term and late effects of cancer treatment. While research-based, it is written for the general public: long term childhood cancer survivors trying to identify and understand their bizarre litany of symptoms and for younger survivors entering adulthood as well as parents, friends, and other family members of pediatric cancer patients to understand what lies ahead and how to plan for their future battles as survivors. It is also written for the medical professionals, including optometrists, that care for them, to understand how late effects manifest themselves over the long term.
