This year’s Academy took place in the ’Crossroads of America’, Indianapolis, IN. It marked yet another year of strong ICO representation. Many of our faculty, residents and students traveled to the Indiana Convention Center to network with optometric professionals and to exchange ideas with thousands of attendees from across North America and the broader vision science community.
We had forty-one poster presentations this year, with research topics ranging from a case study on the effect that scleral lenses have in pediatric exposure keratopathy by Diana Masolak, OD ’23 to a demonstration of multimodal imaging techniques of foveal hypoplasia in ocular albinism by Mara Bedell, OD ’23. Each of our presenters showcased their individual accomplishments and commitment to the field while continuing to demonstrate the growth of research at ICO.
With the recent renovation of the Dr. Newton K. Wesley Research Center and the number of posters presented at this year’s Academy, it’s safe to say that the future of research at ICO is looking bright. We look forward to seeing the continued advancement of resident and student research in 2025 and can’t wait to see what will be presented at next year’s event!
